CAGING

Urban intervention building on existing structures

Caging
An outdoor furniture system for public spaces
Urban spaces are condensed and crowded with little room to calm down or communicate. We tried to develop new interactions within the existing urban spaces of Regensburg by designing a set of „caging“ modules based on the widespread tree cage systems.

The Vision
Spaces of exchange
Trading, relaxing, or communicating. Caging connects people and creates new opportunities for interaction.

The Process
Models & Tests
In Regensburg we found many suited tree cages which had the potential to create new spaces. To validate we've hung up a provisional trading station, which was used and made a first prototype to see if additional feet were necessary to hold the strength.
